Her thesis \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Montage, collage and bricolage in making Tarkovsky\u2019s zone: Sculpting a cinematic narrative space in a liminal landscape\u201d <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">explored how experiential design methods inspired by the study of cinema can inform the making of poetic architecture, which connects multiple realities and time-based encounters. Her academic interests touch on how architecture intersects with liminality, film, narrative, identity and landscapes in terms of geopolitics and conceptual theory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At SEA Katya teaches First Year Theory, Digital Representations and Studio. Additionally, Katya is an assistant lecturer at the University of Cape Town (UCT) teaching second-year design in their BAS programme. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Passionate about design research, Katya has collaborated with international architectural offices and research collectives throughout her student and professional career.
