A <strong>Bachelor&#8217;s Pass<\/strong> or equivalent is necessary, with a <strong>math pass advantageous<\/strong> but not compulsory. Alternatively, a <strong>minimum 50% in Mathematical Literacy<\/strong> and s<strong>atisfactory English, along with a Bachelor&#8217;s Pass<\/strong>, suffice for admission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">The school will evaluate an applicant&#8217;s creativity in problem-solving and communication skills based on their portfolio and the creative application exercise. If you do not have a National Senior Certificate and are currently busy graduating, you may send preliminary matric results. When you sign your admissions application you are also stating that you are the author or originator of the work you submit for this part of your application <i>(you have not gotten someone else to do it for you)<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Architectural studies cover many disciplines such as history, geography, mathematics. Art, and design in particular, is a skill set that you will develop further during your studies at SEA.<br \/>\nPortfolios help the academic staff to learn more about your approach to design. We understand that not everyone has the same level of artistic experience. This is not a test, this is an exercise in thinking visually. There is no right or wrong way to approach this task. From My Doorstep: Moving an Object &#8211; A3(s) ( portrait or landscape)<\/h5>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Start in your room and choose one everyday object. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Draw the object where it is now, showing its surroundings and where it belongs in the space. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Next, imagine the object somewhere completely different. Think about how it might change if it were placed in a new environment. Would it feel bigger or smaller? Would it be used differently? Would it take on a new meaning?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For example:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A mug becomes a water tank in the desert.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A phone is trapped inside a large rock.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Create a series of small drawings that show the object&#8217;s journey from its original place to its new one. These drawings can be rough, experimental, and imaginative. They do not need to be accurate in size or detail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can use any media.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Only your final drawing should be carefully completed. It should clearly show the object in its new location, including its size, materials, and surroundings. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Think of the earlier drawings as sketches for testing ideas, while the final drawing is the finished outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><strong>2. The View From Here- 3A (s) (landscape or portrait)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fill one A3 page with a drawing or painting of the view from your window. Look carefully at what you can see. Notice the light, shadows, colours, textures, and details around you. Draw what is there in real life, not from a photograph.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Use any medium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once you have finished, create a second version of the same image.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can do this by:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Drawing digitally over a photograph of your original drawing, or<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Making a photocopy and drawing directly onto it<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In this second version, add something that you think would improve the place outside your window. This could be something small or large, practical or imaginative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the same page, write one or two sentences by hand explaining:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What you added<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How it would improve the place<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Why you think it is important<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>3. Beneath the Floor &#8211; Scale Model- any size<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Imagine there is a world under your room or house. What do you think is down there? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This world can be real or imagined, quiet, strange, familiar, or completely made up but you need to explore it through drawing and making.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You must include<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A drawing showing your room above and what is below the ground<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0A physical model that explores what the space below looks like and how light and space work in it<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Focus on:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How spaces connect to each other, not just what they look like on their own<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The relationship between what is above, at ground level, and below<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Size, scale, and how people might exist in the space&#8230;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can use collage, different materials, and storytelling. But your work must clearly show an idea about space, not just a collection of shapes or objects.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><strong>4. Patchwork Place &#8211; Any size\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Create a layered collage that shows your neighborhood.
